Little Camping Trip!

Nic and I just got back from our little 2 night trip up into Hyalite. It was really nice and relaxing, and we actually went to the same spot we found 3 years ago. I can't believe it's been 3 years since we went camping! At any rate, it had kind of grown in a bit and the fire pit was kind of gone, so it didn't seem like many people had been using it. It's right next to a little meadow and down a hill so it's away from any other campsites. It's also near a little stream and down a steep hill there is a rushing river so you can always hear the water.

On Tuesday morning Nic got busy building stuff for our little campsite. He made a counter for the camp cooker and a thing to carry wood to our campsite in one trip! He also made a rain shelter for our tent because we couldn't tell what the weather was going to do.

After he built the counter thing he made me a breakfast scramble of eggs, beef sausage, green peppers, onion and cheese! It was very tasty!

After that we just hung out and read and relaxed! He made us tasty steaks for dinner and I got to make smores... although I forgot the chocolate :( All in all, it was a very fun and comfy trip!

Missing the pages...

So this is really random and I just wanted to share it. I bought a book called 'The Last Mermaid" by Shana Abe since I've been interested in some of her other books but this was on sale for $4.99 so I thought, hey, why not? So last night I was reading and at pg 54 a chapter ended. I looked across to the next page... and was confused. No new chapter break, and who are these people and what are they talking about? Then I looked at the page... and it said 119. Apparently a mistake was made. The book skips from pg 54 to pg 119, goes through pg 182, then skips back to pg 119 and continues for the rest of the book. The problem is, I am missing pages 55-118. I don't know what to do! I guess I wasn't meant to read this book...

Meteor Shower!

Last Tuesday night we drove up to Hyalite Reservoir around 1:30 am so we could see some of the Perseid Meteor Shower. It was so amazing! The moon started to get a little bright around 2:30 and so it was harder to see the meteors. But we saw over 40 of them and it was really nice to just lay there snuggled up with my hubby in the fresh mountain air. If you get a chance next August when we go through it again, you should stay up late and watch the shower! :)

Crafty people!

Ok, so first of all, Martha Stewart is magical. It's possible she is comprised of a team of crafty elves that combine into a glorious mish-mash of baking, cooking and decorating perfection. Every time I read Martha Stewart Living I get all excited and I want to just go MAKE something. And I really, really, really want to sew! Pillow shams! Costumes! Quilts! I want to scrapbook and make wall hangings and arrange flowers and garden and cook and organize things until everything is in its happy little place and my house smells like many baked goods and lilacs.

And then I realize. I am my mother. And she's cooler than Martha Stewart. Every year I get more planters of flowers, despite the fact that we don't actually have a garden. My cookbook collection is multiplying exponentially and I want to try silk embroidery, and paper crafts of all kinds. When I was growing up my mom always cooked wonderful, healthy food for me, and even though at the time I wasn't all that interested in cooking, I seem to have absorbed many of the things that she taught me. Now I love cooking! And it makes me happy that I seem to be good at it (although I don't understand how people can't follow a recipe.) I love knowing that if I have a question about cooking, I can call her up and ask anything and she will know the answer! I like to think that someday, when we have kids, I can pass on some of the things that I have learned from her on to my children!

I think I'm rambling but what I'm trying to say is that I love and appreciate my mom! And I'm happy to be like her in a lot of ways. :)

Anniversary thoughts

Well, it's a few days late because I hadn't started this blog yet. But since our anniversary was only a few days ago I wanted to share a few things.

I can't believe a year has passed since our wedding day. I love my husband so much and I couldn't ask for anything better than waking up next to him every morning! I know this year was just the first of our long lives together, and I can't wait to share it with him! :)

Karma Kitty

Oh, Karma.

That is all.

Something new to do

Hello everyone! I've decided to start blogging a little about our everyday lives. Partly for something else to do in front of the computer and also to let those who we don't keep in the best touch with that are interested (and of course, those that we do keep in touch with) stay updated as far as what is going on with us!

Currently we are living in a cute little 2 bedroom apartment with our spastic cat named Karma. I'm sure there will be bunches of funny pictures of her on here. I have plants growing out on our little deck, and just today I picked my first big tomato (along with lots of little cherry tomatoes.)

I look forward to many, many more as both of my plants are COVERED with tons of little green tomatoes. :)

I hope you enjoy this little window into our life together!
